Recruiting Professionals into Parking: A Conversation

the parking podcast“I fell into parking.”

“I never thought I’d work in this industry.”

We hear it all the time–longtime parking and mobility professionals say they never saw themselves in this industry but loved it once they fell or backed into it. But what if there was a concerted effort to make people pick parking–to make working in parking a career goal?

Kevin White, AICP, Parking and Mobility Consultant with Walker Consultants, talked to some top experts about that very question and came up with some great answers and strategies for recruiting top professionals into parking. The Metamorphosis of a Parking Authority

the parking podcastBy Tiffany Smith

The Parking Authority of River City, Ky., (PARC) has made a number of transformations in the last 25 years, and I’ve been fortunate enough to witness this metamorphosis. From adopting automation ahead of the curve to implementing contactless payments system-wide, PARC has been on the leading edge of the parking and mobility industry. One thing we’ve learned in recent years is to incentivize the partners and contractors with whom we work every day. When our partners are successful, we are successful. So we’ve started offering bonuses and incentives for hitting certain key performance indicators.

Living in the home city of the greatest boxer of all time, Muhammad Ali, we are regularly reminded to channel his energy, passion, and determination to win in the parking and mobility space. PARC wants to be as great as we can be in delivering parking and mobility services to our customers.

Learn more about the vendor management and PARC in the latest episode of The Parking Podcast, which is a podcast about the $100 billion parking industry and the people that make it go. Listen here.
